Cadence PL Owner's Manual
Cadence PL is a program for the Palm operating system which measures and graphs the cadence (number of strokes per minute) and ratio (the percentage of the stroke cycle spent in the drive phase) in rowing. It will run on any computer running Palm 0S version 3.1 or above with a screen size of at least 150x150 pixels.
To install the program onto your Palm device transfer the file called
"CadencePL.prc" to your palm using the desktop software provided with your
palm device. This program is shipped on a floppy disk.
The outer buttons (marked A in the picture) in the picture above are used to register the finish and catch of the stroke. Either of these two buttons should be pressed at the finish and the catch of each stroke during measurement. The cadence and ratio of the current stroke are displayed in the top row of the display. The average cadence and ratio over the current measurement period are displayed in the second row of the display, marked with (avg).
The inner buttons (marked B in the picture) are used to clear the display, reset the averages, and start a new measurement period.
The top graph keeps track of the cadence. The tick marks in the middle of this graph mark 35 strokes per minute. The bottom graph keeps track of the ratio. The tick marks in the middle of this graph mark 50% ratio.
